I just got back from Startup Grind and it was an incredible experience. I’m sure that many people will tell others about the array of contacts that they made. You may also hear about the fantastic speakers that were there and the entertaining and informative interviews that were given. While I truly appreciate all those things, I took away something else from the conference this year.
Over the past year, Startup Grind has experienced some imressive growth. From the first chapter in 2011, to the now 75 and growing chapters all over the world, this is an organization that can’t be stopped. It’s a movement! It is an awe inspriring thing to come together with people that you have never met from all around the globe and know at once that you are at home, with family.
After just three days, I have extended invitations to others and doors are open to me all over the world. I know that if I have a meeting in London, I have a place to stay. I know that if I want to see Malaysia (and of course attend a Startup Grind meeting,) I have a friend there. I know that if I have a problem I can call a friend in Nigeria or if I have a question I can call the home office and someone will get back to me within minutes. Likewise, if any of my fellow Grinders are coming to the Motor City, the doors of Chez Anamarie are always open.
This is an organization with more than a local presence.

We are not just another networking group that has sprung up nor are we a fad that will quietly fade away. We are a force to be reckoned with. We are a group of leaders with high standards, drive and most important, the desire to help others. When you decide to be part of Startup Grind you get access to the entire community. Someone in China may ask for your advice just as you may ask for help from someone in Florida. We are an interconnected family that spans the globe and I am so honored and proud to be a part of it.
