Startup Grind is coming to Adelaide.

Backed by Google for Entrepreneurs and in more than 50 cities across the globe,Startup Grind's mission is to educate, inspire and connect it's local chapters.

That's why we're so stoked to announce Adelaide's launch event with the one and only Stuart Snyder, cofounder of YourAmigolimited partner at Blackbird Ventures and investor in Happy Inspector.

Stuart grew up in Silicon Valley, attending High School with Steve Jobs no less. He trained as an accountant and started his career with KPMG, one of the world’s largest accounting firms before relocating to Adelaide in the 1990’s. In 1999 he was one of the cofounders of YourAmigo, which successfully commercialised search technology coming out of Flinders Uni that has gone on to successfully help multinational companies rank higher in search results and increase revenues by millions.

Stuart has an excellent story to tell that proves, yet again, sometimes it takes an outsider to make us locals realise just what we're sitting on.

From a tech perspective, Adelaide is actually a successful place, with companies like SolveIT being acquired by Schneider Electric, Ratbag games acquired by Midway, and Rocksoft acquired by Quantum.  And that's what we aim to do with Startup Grind, share the stories of entrepreneurs who have done great things but maybe not told their complete story, or who were in the previous generation of tech successes that today's founders may not be aware of.

Here in Adelaide, startups have started to take over in the last couple of years. There’s been a growing community of locals putting on events like Startup Weekend and opening coworking spaces like Majoran Distillery to cater to the local tech scene. Each meetup, each event, each gathering of startups has compounded the enthusiasm to make it right here in Adelaide. And now the startup virus is spreading. The most recent Startup Weekend was the biggest yet, our GovHack node, Unleashed Adelaide, produced more than half of all the teams in the Australian competition and our hometown accelerator Innovyz Start is now on to it’s 3rd round of startups.

In Adelaide, it's not what you know, but who you know. So come and get in the know with some of Adelaide's greatest tech startup stories. Future Startup Grind events will feature interstate and international guests as well.Through this series of talks we want to celebrate Adelaide's advantage of being one of the best places to begin your startup.

Even if you end up heading east to Melbourne, or Sydney, or beyond to conquer the world, we know you'll come back to Adelaide one day to share your skills and wisdom with the next generation, just like our guests.

Can't wait to see you here!
