The next fireside interview at Startup Grind - Kalamazoo will be a week from today, Tuesday, March 25th with Dan Jefferies, the founder of Newmind Group. Dan was fortunate to find his passion and aptitude for technology early in life, and has been able to live that through his business activities.

A native of Sturgis, Michigan, Dan spent time in Kalamazoo with several large companies before founding Newmind in 2003. While having a day job that paid the immediate bills, Dan worked to validate his idea that an IT services company in Kalamazoo would be viable and could put food on the table for his family.
After spending several years doing the traditional "break/fix" technology services model, he led Newmind to refocus itself and adopt a more proactive managed service provider model with a focus on emerging cloud computing technologies. In late 2008, Google began to notice Newmind’s activity in the cloud computing space and invited Newmind to join a pilot of Google’s partnership program which would later become the Google Apps Authorized Reseller program. This lead to Newmind being named Google’s first authorized reseller in the state of Michigan and one of the first of several resellers named world wide.
Daniel’s skill and tenacity has lead to several industry awards including TC50 List of 50 Top Could Computing Consulting Firms Worldwide (2010), MSPMentor 250 List of Top 250 Managed Technology Services Executives, Entrepreneurs, and Mentors (2010), and an appointment to the State of Michigan 21st Century IT Advisory Council (2011). Daniel has been invited to contribute directly to Google at both its exclusive annual conference, Google I/O, and as a consultant to Google’s certification programs.
He was recently interviewed by Kzoo Uncaged (see interview), and now we get the opportunity to further that conversation with Dan at the next Startup Grind event on March 25th.
