Gavin Appel has over 15 years of global, start up and corporate experience within the digital industry. Gavin has built a successful career creating and leading innovative commercial and technology solutions in digital marketing, search and competitive intelligence. Gavin’s early career includes being one of the first employees of Hitwise Inc (now part of Experian plc), where he was integral in growing the business to be one of the most recognised global internet measurement brands. Gavin held several roles within Hitwise including General Manager and Chief Technology Officer, at all times sustaining a mix of strategic and operational involvement. After the acquisition of Hitwise, Gavin was promoted to Senior Vice President within Experian, a leading global information services company, and a member of the global product and technology executive team leading employees across the globe. Gavin was responsible for developing and executing the Experian Marketing Services’ Global Development Centre strategy together with leading innovation initiatives including a Hackathon event across 8 cities around the world. Gavin was appointed a Partner of Square Peg Capital in June 2013 and will lead venture investments in online and technology companies. As a finalist in the 2011 AFR Young Executive of the Year, Gavin was recognised for his track record of improving productivity and scale to drive growth globally, with a focus on financial sustainability, strategy and innovation.
