Startup Grind Launches in the Holy Land (Palestine)

Startup Grind (http://startupgrind.com) Palestine is launching in Ramallah.  We want you to be a part of the launch and help spread the word to the community! If you are an entrepreneur or want to be involved with the entrepreneurship community that is gaining so much momentum in Palestine this is the place for you to learn more about the monthly event that will be taking place in Ramallah.

If you have been living in Palestine, you definitely have noticed the hype that is taking place around the growing entrepreneurial environment.  But of course, the craze is tied to events, panels, workshops and solid results.  From incubators and accelerators to Innovation and VC funds, to Startup Weekends and Hackathons, to Garage 48 and bi-weekly ROCC (Ramallah Open Coffee Club) meetings and flash mobs, yes flash mobs to celebrate one year of ROCC, everyone wants to be a part of this movement and understand what all the fuss is about.  Although the city is overflowing with funding opportunities, Palestinian entrepreneurs are still adjusting. But of course there are exceptions.  Palestinian companies like Yamsafer (www.yamsafer.me), Souktel (www.souktel.ps), Fadfid (www.fadfid.com) and pinchpoint (www.pinchpoint.me) are already working hard to ensure their ideas are a success.

Startup Grind has landed in Palestine, now what?  Well this means we will have monthly events in Ramallah highlighting amazing speakers via fireside chats.  Startup Grind, powered by Google for Entrepreneurs, is a way where Palestinian entrepreneurial community can join together to learn from the best and brightest male and female individuals who have made an impact in the country and the region.  The speakers we host at each monthly event will be a mix of entrepreneurs, founders, educators, CEO’s, investors, authors and any other individuals we think will be an inspiration to the community.

So join us at our launching event for Startup Grind in Palestine.  It will take place this Wednesday, April 2nd from5pm-8pm at Rocky Hotel, where we will be hosting Yadin Kauffman from Sadara Ventures.

Kaufmann has been involved in venture capital since 1987.  He co-founded Veritas, which leads investments in start-ups in Israel and the US.  In 2011, Kauffman co-founded Sadara Ventures, the first fund targeting investments in Palestinian technology companies. In 2002, he founded and is Chairman of Tmura, a non-profit organization that solicits donations of equity from early-stage companies and donates the proceeds from ‘exit’ events to education-and youth-related charities in Israel.  Yadin received his B.A. from Princeton and his M.A. and J.D. from Harvard, where he was an editor of the Law Review.

If this sounds like your cup of tea or Turkish coffee since we are in Ramallah, please join us in this kickoff event which will just be a taste of what is to come in this busy year of 2014!
