About this event

After a short hiatus, we are THRILLED to announce that we will be reconvening in-person in Redwood City for our 11th annual Director's Summit. Please join us for a jammed packed 4 days of activities, sessions and of course our annual Director Awards.

Our Directors Summit is always the highlight of our year. Not only do we share findings from our Annual Directors survey, but we have quickfire talks from your peers, special guest appearances, our annual Directors Awards and lots of partying! Life-long friendships are made!

What Can You Expect?

The entire 4 days (Monday 11th April to Thursday 14th April) are an opportunity for you to connect, learn and celebrate with your fellow Chapter Directors from all over the world ... and of course, sing some karaoke! Covid-19 meant that we were unable to come together for our Directors Summit event in 2021, so we are super stoked to be bringing you in all together for 2022.

Below you'll find some frequently asked questions, which can help you prepare for the trip.

Frequently Asked Questions

I'll need a US VISA, can you help me get one?
Yes, we can provide you with a letter of support which you'll need to include with your Visa application. Please follow the instructions below on how to get a Visa Letter:

  1. Please go to our Templates Repository here, scroll down to the Agreements & MOUs section, then click the Download button in the VISA Letter Template row
  2. Click Make a copy and complete the relevant information in the newly created Google Doc
  3. Please share the document with ford@startupgrind.com (ensuring the Editor access is selected and HQ will process the document for signing

This VISA template has been used multiple times before and is usually sufficient in getting a VISA. Please note though, they are no guarantees, so we strongly recommend applying sooner rather than later as VISA processing times at the USA Consulates and Embassies can take time

IMPORTANT NOTE: You must have registered for a ticket (including the accommodation) option before the VISA letter can be prepared. If your VISA is declined your Draper University accommodation costs will be refunded, providing we have been notified before the 26th March 2022.

What day should I arrive?

If possible, we strongly recommend booking a flight that arrives in San Francisco no later than 02:00 PM on Monday, 11th April 2020. The immigration and passport queues can be long. Check-in will be available from 12pm at Draper University if you are staying there. We recommend dropping your bag off at Draper University first, before heading to the Fox Theatre in Redwood City.

What should I pack, clothes wise?

Attire is casual, dress comfortably. Bring a light jacket and an umbrella if you have one. The average temperatures in this area are High 15C/62F, Low 8C/40F during February. If staying at Draper University we strongly recommend bringing your own toiletries.

Which is the best airport to fly into?

Do you provide accommodation?

We provide subsidized accommodation for 4 nights. Check-in Monday, 11th April 2022 (from 12pm) with check-out on Friday, 15th April (by 10am). Following feedback from previous years, in 2022 we are trying somewhere new and we'll be housing our Chapter Directors at Draper University in San Mateo. There are two housing options, single occupancy where you have a room to yourself for $400 for the 4 nights or double occupancy where you share with another Chapter Director of the same gender at $100 for the 4 nights.

Can Co-Directors Join?

Yes! The Directors Summit is open to both Chapter Directors & their Co-Directors.
