About this event

Zuko Tisani is the founder of Legazy Technology Conferencing.

Legazy is now a subsidiary of the By Design Communications Group, and was acquired after Zuko managed to secure a $1 million letter of intent from one of Africa’s largest TMT (technology, media, telecom) companies for the hosting of a new Web summit conference in South Africa in 2018.

Born in the township of Zwide, Port Elizabeth, Zuko was raised by his grandparents till the age of seven, his parents where not able to look after him, as they were still undergraduate students at Rhodes University when he was born. When he turned seven he moved to Johannesburg to begin his schooling and lived with his parents. Zuko had difficulties adjusting from life in Port Elizabeth to Johannesburg. Brought up in a family that valued education, Zuko was given a quality education. His mother made into a default entrepreneur in waste management after she suffered retrenchment and father shortly joining entrepreneurship too after a long and unfulfilled career in C-suite positions in mainly in state owned enterprises.

Zuko studied at the University of Cape Town till date has only completed his undergraduate degree. Zuko enjoyed much success in leadership positions from the Chairperson of the Humanities Student Council and also as the President of the Entrepreneurship Society. With just an undergraduate in Industrial Psychology and a 53% GPA from UCT Zuko was head hunted by the top four Management Consulting firms in the world Accenture for strong natural selling persuading abilities as a Digital Management Consultant. Zuko took the opportunity to travel and experience international conferences to explore his passion of the Fourth Industrial Revolution in which it was a field he had no skills in. In attending a conference in Hong Kong where he made strategic partnerships with the worlds largest technology conferencing and struggled with short stints in his 9 to 5 career until he eventually put all his focus in growing the conferencing brand.

Legazy Technologies is a company that emerged out of Zuko’s travels and studies on the different entrepreneurial ecosystems and climates he had come across in the world. When he noticed how much the South African entrepreneurial ecosystem (the relationship between public, private and entrepreneur) needed maturing and how invisible African innovation was to the world and how small our market share is in our innovation because they knew very little about how strong our innovation is and there were no opportunities to partner with foreign business, he created Legazy Technologies.

Legazy takes South African startups to the most important platforms, largest audiences and most powerful communities in the tech world to leverage off the resource difficult to attain in South Africa such as investment and consumer market.
