Shandra Spicer, a Buffalo, NY native is the middle sibling of five. Growing up in a household where her parents instilled core values of honesty, integrity, loyalty and hard work has made her successful in building her own company.
Shandra is President and CEO of Spicer Group (formerly S & W Contracting of WNY, Inc.), a commercial general construction and construction management firm. They believe in humility, integrity and trust and pride themselves on exceeding the expectations of their clients, subcontractors, vendors and employees. Humility, Integrity and Trust (H.I.T.) is based on delivering the best GC (general construction) and CM (construction management) services possible. Under her leadership, Spicer Group has developed relationships that are built on a foundation of quality, trust and loyalty. Since inception, Spicer Group has brought in years of experience in delivering comprehensive construction services and solutions to the region’s public and private sector clients.
In 1999, at the age of 18 with only a high school diploma, Ms. Spicer co-founded Spicer Group after the construction company she worked for closed its’ doors. By working in the construction industry, she gained a basic knowledge of the field and was encouraged by her father to establish a minority woman-owned company to succeed in the Buffalo market. In 2002, Ms. Spicer became the sole shareholder and 100% owner. Since 1999, under her leadership and direction, the company has grown from $29,000 in annual revenue over $10 million in annual revenue in 2014 with sales totaling over $40 million since inception.
Ms. Spicer is fully involved in all operations of the business including construction operations, business development, sales/marketing, negotiations, finance, human resources, and customer service. But, today, her core focus is being a visionary leader, developing and implementing the strategic plan for the future growth of the company.
