In-person event

About this event

Eric Mutta is not your ordinary techie. Yes, he is extremely brilliant, in fact, he is a coding geek who confesses to having working hours that are not between the traditional ‘8 to 5’. He is also a self-taught developer who learned how to code at the age of 14, and openly admits to seeking a formal tertiary education for the sake of getting the ‘papers’. Typical techie, right? Not really, unlike some, if not many or all techie entrepreneurs, Eric has mastered the art of balancing between innovating- code word for coding, being the boss of Problem Solved Limited (PSL), a software company in Tanzania, and most importantly providing the best service for his customers.  He can do it all! It is of no surprise then that he is referred to as the next Bill Gates of Tanzania, a title that he does not take lightly. Yes, Eric is also humble. Something that you would not expect of a person who won $328,000 from the Financial Sector Deepening Trust (FSDT) for developing an accounting software, Minishop, that helps SMEs better manage their financial records and ultimately access capital for the growth of their businesses. Surprisingly, this not the only money award that Eric has received. Prior to the FSDT SME Finance Innovation Challenge, Eric received a $15,000 award from the US department of State Bureau of African Affairs for developing a food management and monitoring software of which he named the Grainy Bunch! In addition to these two extremely brilliant software, Eric also developed an SMS based mobile dating service in Tanzania! Quite ballsy, don’t you think? Well, we’ll let you decide on July 28th, 2015 when he speaks at Start Up Grind Dar. As for us, at Start Up Grind Dar, we like ballsy entrepreneurs and are so excited to have him speak with our community.
