Josh Moe is a bootstrapper extraordinaire and founder of Root Level Labs. Josh and his team use a unique sweat equity formula for creating startups. So far Root Level Labs has created four startups, supported 15 others, has five in the pipeline and is in a seed round raise for Odigia, a successful ed-tech startup.

Odigia is a NextGen Learning company focused on empowering students and teachers with real-time data that drives improved engagement and outcomes. Odigia enables publishers, teachers and trainers to easily and cost-effectively engage ALL learning styles, while helping students develop the skills most relevant for success in today’s workforce: critical thinking, problem solving, communication, and collaboration.

More About Odigia

It’s proven that there are multiple learning styles. So why do we expect everyone to learn in the same way? Our current model of education was designed during the industrial age without today’s understanding of How People Learn [NRC,1999]. Schools were built to train people and scale was more important than quality so the “one-size-fits-all” model was developed. And it worked. However this model fails to deliver on what today’s employers need - critical thinkers and problem solvers who can communicate and collaborate effectively.

Odigia’s cloud-based learning platform is cost efficient, highly scalable and easy to implement. Their powerful and easy to use tools empower publishers, teachers and trainers to create and deliver highly effective learning experiences that improve student engagement, outcomes, and retention. Accessible through a modern browser on any internet-enabled device, Odigia enables students to take control of their learning experience. Students use questions to progress through course content and game theory to compete with their peers in an engaging environment that supports individual learning styles and offers immediate feedback to proactively identify opportunities for enhanced learning.

Odigia’s primary focus is the higher education content and course delivery market, with a secondary focus on professional and workforce development. These groups all have large amounts of content and subject-matter expertise, as well as pre-existing distribution mechanisms and established audiences. In addition to working with organizations with their own content, Odigia has partnered with OpenStax, a non-profit publisher under Rice University, to offer their suite of open source [OER] textbook replacements. This model provides them with a classroom-ready course experience which has significantly accelerated our adoption conversations. Odigia has earned over $1.4M M dollars in revenue and grants, and is actively establishing pilots in our target markets validating our platform, model and approach.
