Fanie Ndlovu is an multi-award winning  social entrepreneur, digital teacher and community builder.He graduated from the Durban University of Technology with National diploma in Information Technology in 2016 and Bachelor of Technology in Information Technology in 2018. He is currently pursuing master’s in information communication and Technology at the Durban University of Technology. Once graduate in 2016, Fanie got User Acceptance Tester internship at Multichoice in Randburg. After his internship he decided to go back to Durban to further his studies and start his company Fanie Home Pty Ltd which initial was focused on digital skills development under VarsityGenie brand. With VarsityGenie more than 2 000 diverse people were trained on coding, robotics and other digital skills. This includes women, high school learners, primary school learners with special need, and deaf university students. The work he has been doing with VarsityGenie opened doors to work with High Tech giants such as Microsoft and Google which provided resources to equipped more than 2 000 people. In addition, Fanie also is working with Startup Grind as Director of Startup Grind Durban University of Technology chapter. Startup Grind is company based in USA that educate 5 million entrepreneurs across 125+ countries. His work has won him multi-awards and took him internationally. In 2018 and 2020, Durban University of Technology honored him with community service and leadership award (2018) and Community Engagement Student of the Year (2020). Also, in 2018 his work won two prizes, Innovation Durban Youth Challenge 3rd Prize and DUT Community Engagement Cluster 1st prize. In September 2018 he was invited by Google to speak in Sub-Sahara Africa GDG Summit at Kenya, November 2018 DUT sent him as delegate to participant in emerging leaders Peace Summit in United Nation, Thailand. In March 2020, based on his amazing work Microsoft invited Fanie to attend Microsoft Imagine Cup Final summit in Netherlands.Other professional work he has done is in 2019 he was Innovation Facilitator at Transnet conducting workshops to assists employees to come with creative ideas and refine them to be aligned with business objectives and viable for implementation. From January 2017 to December 2018, He was Software Development part-time assistance lecture at the Durban University of Technology.
