Jorge Torres is a Managing Director at HBCUvc, a non-profit and related investment arm that is training the next generation of black and Latino innovation investors. Before HBCUvc, Jorge was a Venture Partner at Silas Capital, which provides capital to entrepreneurs starting and scaling high-growth branded consumer businesses. Through Silas Capital, he was an investor in brands such as CASPER, RINGLY, and TRACKSMITH.
Jorge also teaches The Business of Venture Capital, a popular undergraduate seminar at Yale on the history and purpose of venture capital; the practical details of venture investing; and advanced topics on venture capital business models, technology ecosystems, and professional ethics.
Apart from this, he is also a member of the bar of the State of New York, is a registered patent attorney, and mentors entrepreneurs and new investors. Jorge is one of the 500+ Kauffman Fellows, a selective group of the most innovative minds from across the world.
