About this event

Startup Grind Frederick is delighted to welcome Jon-Mikel Bailey to a Fireside Chat. You’re in for an enjoyable evening of education, inspiration and connection as Jon chats with us about “Enjoying Making the Bridge from Entrepreneur to Leader.”

Jon is a founding partner of Wood Street, Inc., which is based in Frederick and produces well-designed websites and marketing solutions that help drive results. A popular public speaker, Jon gives seminars on marketing, internet marketing branding and web design. During the Fireside Chat, Jon will share his perspective on topics of interest to every entrepreneur and small business owner or manager:

  • “Bridging” between entrepreneurship and leadership – and making it enjoyable
  • The benefits and risks of being an entrepreneur
  • Why the shift to being more of a leader is important to business strategy, competitive advantage, and sustainable growth
  • Defining what leadership means to him, his team and clients
  • Achieving a work/life balance for success and enjoyment

Fireside Chats are informal, and attendees are encouraged to engage with our speaker and ask questions.

We'll also welcome Dr. Adam and Brooka Smith of Restoration Family Chiropractic, who will be joining us as our Small Business Forum guests! Their new location is slated to open in Frederick in the spring, with a vision to build a community that is educated about their health, inspired to share the mission with others, and freed from current labels and health conditions. We eagerly anticipate an engaging discussion of insight and inspiration!

We'll also continue our Startup Showcase segment, giving chapter members the opportunity to say a few words about their business. How does it work, you ask? You’ll have ONE minute to share your elevator pitch or info about your startup’s latest product or service offering. Have a giveaway? Bring it! Everyone loves door prizes, especially ones that spread the word about how awesome our members and their startups are. Past giveaways have included a complimentary website audit from Apollo Marketing, a cybersecurity review courtesy of Duffy Consulting, and luscious skincare products by Street Smart Beauty. We’ll feature 5 startups monthly, so if you’re interested in participating, don’t be shy! Email us at startupfrederick@gmail.com and include Showcase in the subject line. You can also email us just to say hi, or to share an idea or event suggestion with us. We love hearing from our chapter members!

As always, the evening starts with light refreshments and time to make new friends and strengthen existing relationships.

Looking ahead, you’ll want to mark your calendar for April 9th. Aaron Hsu of Clear Mask, Inc., will join us to share his story of co-founding an inventive business as well as his experience at Startup Grind’s Global Conference in Silicon Valley. Clear Mask was named a Top 20 startup out of the hundreds of startups that applied, to pitch to key investors, thought leaders, and worldwide directors at the conference!

Startup Grind hosts events in the spirit of helping entrepreneurs connect, learn from one another and to inspire or be inspired.

We look forward to seeing you soon!
