Mark is the founder of Bookship (https://www.bookshipapp.com), a social reading app, where people build better relationships through books. He's a multi-exit entrepreneur, including Endeca (Search & Business Intelligence acquired by Oracle for $1.1B); goby (a personalized recommendation engine for finding fun things to do), acquired by Telenav; and CDRS (a 3D modeling system) acquired by Parametric Technology Corporation. He started his career as a software engineer, rising to become VP of Engineering at Endeca and CEO of goby, where he raised venture funding, built the team and product, and led the eventual acquisition by Telenav.

Mark's products have been used by millions of people, featured by Apple, and written about by the Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, Robert Scoble, Techcrunch, USA Today and other national media outlets. He's worked in a wide variety of domains, including Search & Big Data, Digital Media and 3D Modeling. Starting as a software engineer, he rose to become VP of Engineering at Endeca and CEO of goby. He was a member of the Board of Directors for Firecracker, a medical ed-tech company since acquired by Wolters Klewer, and Styleta, an online fashion non-profit. He has an M.S. in Mathematics from the University of Utah.

Mark loves startups & entrepreneurship, mentoring frequently in the Hawaii startup community. He is passionate about books & literacy, tennis, and is an aspiring outrigger canoe paddler.
