November is dedicated to diversity, equity and inclusion.
We will discuss how diverse founders and leaders build their companies and overcame the challenges of fundraising as part of an underrepresented group.
We will also look at how startups can support inclusion and embed it into their business models in the first part of the event.
The second part of the event will feature startups pitch battle, followed by networking.
We will hear pitches from 4 selected startups.
The event is supported by Barclays Eagle Labs and Avenue HQ who will host us for the evening at Avenue HQ Leeds!

Peter MacKenzie-Shaw is the Business Start-Up Manager for Leeds City Council and assists people turn ideas into businesses and enables those with start-up businesses to access continual opportunities for growth. He works with a number of partners Local Enterprise Programme, People Plus, Ad:Venture to offer support until that company reaches 3 years of maturity. These include access to fully funded knowledge programmes, financial options and greater targeted networking opportunities such as ‘Women in Business’ or YABA.
Peter’s background in business development includes being owning a business consultancy firm, manufacturing company and has provided advice and support on behalf of the local authority in many guises from tendering services to large scale business growth programmes.
Sam Adekunle is the cofounder of Penalogue and a product manager with over 5 years of experience leading scale-ups and developer teams to deliver product-focused and open-source technical programs and growth. Sam leads Startup Grind Ife as a chapter director, providing startups in Ife with the education and opportunities they need to build, grow, and scale their companies.

'In his role as Head of Research at CRSI Max works with innovative startups and scaleups across science and technology to build high-performing teams and process foundations for future growth.
Max is also an associate at Investor Ladder, a network of the most active investors in the science and tech sector providing a forum for them to meet, share challenges and stimulate deal flow.
