Mahbod Moghadam is an Iranian-American internet entrepreneur and investor. He is a cofounder of Everipedia. Mahbod was formerly a cofounder of Rap Genius (now Genius), which he started in 2009 with Yale University classmate and friend Tom Lehman.
Moghadam currently works full-time on Everipedia. He met Sam Kazemian in 2015 when he was giving a talk at UCLA and was immediately captivated by the earliest version of Everipedia. Sam showed Mahbod his Everipedia page and Mahbod was super excited because he had always wanted a Wikipedia page, and several people had made him one, but Wikipedia kept deleting it.
He and Sam, along with cofounders Theodor Forselius and Travis Moore, raised seed funding from Mucker Capital and commenced the revolution of knowledge.
Mahbod is an Angel investor in Coinbase, Helpr, Polymail, Burrow Sofa, Yoshi Fuel, Squire Technologies and Flexport. He also owns Bitcoin and Ethereum.
Genius (aka "Rap Genius) was created in October 2009 by founders Mahbod Moghadam, Tom Lehman, and Ilan Zechory, who met during their undergraduate years at Yale University. By 2014 Genius had raised a total of 56.9 million from investors such as Andressen Horowitz. Lehman and Moghadam came up with the idea for Rap Genius in the summer of 2009 when Lehman asked Moghadam about the meaning of a Cam'ron lyric. Moghadam was a Fulbright scholar to France and following Yale Undergrad, a graduate of Stanford Law School. After a departure from Genius in May 2014 he met Everipedia co-founder Sam Kazemian when he was giving a talk at UCLA, and immediately fell in love with Everipedia. He had planned on retiring because of traumatic brain surgery but Everipedia lured him out of retirement. Everipedia's mission is to make information on the internet more accessible by connecting individuals to their digital footprint.
