Sylvia Banda is the founder and director of Sylva Group of Companies, a successful Zambian hospitality empire which includes Sylva Catering and Silva University. Sylvia has won many awards including consistent contribution to the preservation and promotion of traditional Zambian cuisine; top African women entrepreneurs; Woman of the Year and the Ashoka Fellow. 

Sylvia has been appointed to several boards including Industrial Development Corporation Board, Africa Harvest Biotech Foundation International, Agribusiness Incubation Trust, Lusaka Vocational Training, Zambia Investment Centre. She was appointed ambassador for African Women’s Entrepreneurship Programme Zambia Chapter in 2011.
