Startup Grind Lusaka hosts Misozi Mkandawire, Managing Director at Zoona Money Transfer and top Zoona agent to date. In her capacity as Zoona agent, Misozi has 43 employees (all youths), 38 being women under the age of 30 whom she has trained in business management and sales. She has empowered five former employees to become Zoona agents, operating their own booths independently, which has in turn allowed them to increase their incomes and thrive. Misozi now 27 started her own business as a Zoona Agent at the age of 22 when she only knew very little about business. She opened her first outlet in October 2012 and with only one employee. Her work entailed providing financial services to primarily unbanked consumers in the urban, peri-urban, and rural areas of Zambia through money transfers, bill payments, bulk payouts, vouchers, airtime sales, and international remittances. Misozi attended Kabulonga Girls Secondary School and received her certificate and diploma from the National Institute of Public Administration in Accounting. She is currently pursuing a Bachelor of Business Administration. Early this year, Zoona approached Misozi for the position of Managing Director of their Zambian division. After seeing the positive impact that Zoona has had on her life and some of her own employees, she gladly accepted. We are all very excited to see where this part of the journey takes her as she uses her experience as a previous Agent to help other entrepreneurs thrive. in the meantime, get to know her inspirational story on YouTube here http://bit.ly/2A8ln9A and http://bit.ly/2ypmeFy ... You have got to watch this!!! You just have to come meet her. Join Misozi as she chats to us about the lifeblood of business (and life altogether): Sales, at our Startup Grind fireside chat this month.
