Fatuma Abdulahi is media and communications specialist based in Mogadishu, Somalia. Fatuma’s journalism work started with the BBC in 2003, where she was a producer and broadcaster at the Somali section of the World Service. In 2010, she helped re-launch Mozambique’s first English FM Station based in Maputo, LM Radio, after nearly 40 years off air, and was the morning drive show co-host. in April 2014, Fatuma launched Warya Post, an online digital publication that provides a platform for progressive and diverse Somali voices, marginalised groups, artists, thinkers and creative people with original ideas – both in Somalia and Diaspora. Within the first three months of launching, Warya Post had 190,000 unique visitors! Demonstrating the hunger Somalis, especially youth, have for original content and a space where people’s thoughts are not morally policed.
