Chinese creators raised at least $60m on Kickstarter in 2019 alone, and 2020 looks like another record-breaking year. Kickstarter offers startups, designers, makers, and engineers a unique opportunity to connect with an audience and raise funds to bring their products to life. For Chinese creators, the opportunity to take their product to a global audience through Kickstarter is particularly powerful. Startup Grind Shenzhen and Nanjing host a unique online event to help startups in China launch on Kickstarter. We will talk to Kickstarter’s Director of Design and Technology, Heather Corcoran and a successfully crowdfunded campaign owner, Switchbot CEO Richard Mou, about launching products successfully on Kickstarter. Heather will share insights on how to build successful and impactful campaigns on Kickstarter: sharing case studies as well as practical tips on building communities, creative storytelling and rewarding backers. Richard will talk about how Switchbot raised $678,835 on Kickstarter in July 2020, sharing his experience in creating and running the campaign as well as tips and advice to other startups on how to successfully raise funds on Kickstarter.
