Steel Oak Coffee
Carl Dupper is the Founder of Steel Oak Coffee, an Ormond Beach company that focuses on the sourcing, roasting, and distribution of small-batch specialty coffees.
The decision to start Steel Oak (2016) in the available hours between his role as operations leader for a technology start-up and father to his young children was to feed a growing desire to create more meaning for his life’s work.
Throughout his career, Carl recognized the powerful influence that coffee had on the ability to facilitate conversation, relationships, and ideas. It was in his leadership role at Durham, NC medical device start-up Yukon Medical (2011) that his young technical team introduced him to the world of specialty coffee.
In 2015, he moved his family back to the Daytona area with a new-found awareness for local coffee’s capacity to serve as a social catalyst and create more community engagement.
Carl is driven to continue to grow his vision of Steel Oak Coffee as a company developing meaningful human connections through coffee; education, training, and support for local business.
Originally from Pittsburgh, PA, Carl graduated from Penn State in 1998 with degrees in Plastics and Mechanical Engineering. He currently calls Ormond Beach, FL home with his wife Michele and their two children.
