About this event

Tomas Gorny is a serial entrepreneur and CEO who truly embodies the principles of the American Dream. Born in Poland, Tomas knew from an early age that he would move to the United States and become an entrepreneur. American movies portrayed a life of opportunity to do whatever he wanted –– an alluring offer compared to communist Poland.

In 1996, after selling his first business, Tomas moved to Los Angeles at the age of 20. It was the height of the dot com boom and Tomas became a minority owner of a web hosting business. He worked for sweat equity, taking odd jobs to make ends meet. Two years later it was sold to a publicly traded company and Tomas invested his earnings into other ventures. Then the dot com bubble burst and wiped out his fortune.

Taking a number of lessons from his first rise and fall of entrepreneurship, Tomas founded IPOWER in 2001, which later sold for $1B to Warburg Pincus and Goldman Sachs.

Tomas went on to establish two more tech companies in Scottsdale, Arizona; Nextiva in 2006 and Sitelock in 2008, both under the Unitedweb family of companies. All three are entirely bootstrapped and do not have outside investors.

In 2014, Nextiva was named the fastest growing telecommunications company in North America and the fastest growing tech company in Arizona by Deloitte. In 2015, SiteLock took Nextiva’s place as the fastest growing tech company in Arizona, with Nextiva coming in second. Sitelock was then sold to Abry Partners LLC in 2018.

Today, Tomas is the co-founder, chairman, and CEO of Unitedweb, a holdings company, and Nextiva, a cloud communications company.
