Tim Chae is a Partner at 500 Startups and General Partner for its Korea specific fund, 500 Kimchi, making early stage investments at the seed stage. Though he also makes a handful of investments in the US every year through 500S, he mainly focuses on investing in promising companies coming out of Korea via 500 Kimchi.

Tim Chae is a Partner at 500 Startups and General Partner for its Korea specific fund, 500 Kimchi, making early stage investments at the seed stage. Though he also makes a handful of investments in the US every year through 500S, he mainly focuses on investing in promising companies coming out of Korea via 500 Kimchi. He is helping the Korean startup ecosystem get to the next level for Seoul to become the Silicon Valley of Asia. Previously, Tim Chae was an EIR (Entrepreneur-in-Residence) at 500 Startups where he helped 500 Startup's accelerator companies with his experience being the founder of PostRocket, which was a 500S Batch 3 (F’11) company. He has started both venture backed and bootstrapped businesses and startups with his first business being in his early teenage years selling t-shirts online and offline. His entrepreneurial work since a young age led him to being named one of the top Youth Entrepreneurs of 2009 by NFIB and the McKelvey Foundation. Tim's first expereince in VC was as an Associate at Romulus Capital while in college. He studied Tech Entrepreneurship and Design at Babson College before dropping out after his sophomore year to pursue his startup.
