Angelin Indira. J, an engineer by chance, social activist by choice, an Inspirational Speaker and a musician was born on May 5, 1994, at Kanyakumari, Tamil Nadu, India. She is a graduate of St. Xaviers College of Engineering, Nagercoil where she completed her Bachelor’s degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering.
Much of Angelin’s inspiration stems from her own life. As a child she was raised in an economically challenged community. Though faced with challenges and tough situations, she was determined to strive hard and change her life. With great passion for music she took up playing guitar and this took her to the level of playing five musical instruments which finally took her to London as a Young Musician in 2015 and she is also a district level badminton player.
With extra time in hands she proved her talent in academics engaged in various activities. She has won the South Asia level Presenter award which was published in Times of India on August 22, 2015 for presenting her own idea project and it reached a tremendous response on All India Radio Program where she was interviewed. She was selected as the only student from her college under Sponsorship to take part in the Student Exchange Program, Italy. Angelin ideas and contribution made her the First Indian Women Member for Women International Commission Udine, Italy.
She joined the IEEE special Interested group on Humanitarian Technology and initiated her role as the Project Coordinator for an award winning project. Utilizing this path, she involved in helping people and completed few fishing communities based humanitarian projects in her locality. Angelin has organized many National level programs associated with few NGO’s which has helped the underserved communities deal with technology. These initiatives of Angelin encouraged many youngsters to get them involved in volunteering such social events.
She started her Professional work in IIT Madras since February, 2016. Angelin is the Member and Volunteer of IEEE , IET and few other Organizations. She is now the chairperson of IEEE ADSF SIGHT and has won various awards like Young Women Engineer Award, Best Team Leader Award, Best Outgoing Student Award, Best extracurricular Award etc. For her achievements, she was invited a speaker in Various International IEEE Events in Malaysia, Australia, Indonesia, Thailand etc. She is the sponsored delegate of Asia level World Model United Nations where she represented India under International Labor Organization in Bangkok 2019. She is also a selected young leader of Indian Youth Parliament 2019.
When she is passionate about something, she goes to extreme efforts to meet her passion. She found herself to be a Young Community Development Activist, Women Engineer, Musician and and a change maker.
