Breaking into the US Market: Insights For Shenzhen Entrepreneurs
Summary: Atticus Li, a founder with experience in growth and experimentation, invites Shenzhen-based entrepreneurs to discuss strategies for breaking into the US market. They offer insights into US buyer expectations and effective acquisition channels, while seeking to learn about growth approaches in China and challenges faced when targeting the US market. Entrepreneurs are encouraged to share their products, target customers, and current challenges for specific feedback.
Hello, I’m Atticus, a founder with 10+ years in growth, experimentation, and startup in the US market. I’ve run growth and CRO programs for large US consumer brands and now run two bootstrapped software companies: GrowthLayer (an experimentation repository for growth teams) and Jobsolv.
I’m in Shenzhen and want to start a conversation with founders here who are trying to break into the US market, and I’d like to trade notes on growth in both directions.
What I can share from the US side:
What US buyers expect on trust, pricing pages, and onboarding that Chinese-market products often get wrong
Which acquisition channels are working now and which have gone saturated
How to run experiments with a small team and limited traffic
What I want to learn from you:
How growth works in China that US founders miss (WeChat ecosystems, community-led distribution, etc.)
What’s blocking you in the US: positioning, payments, compliance, or hiring
What you’ve tried that failed
If you’re building for the US from China, or have tried, reply with your product, your target customer, and the biggest obstacle you’re hitting. I’ll respond to each one with specific feedback.
