A Story of Success: From The Valley to the Q.C.

What do most people do on New Year’s Day? Sleep in, watch college football, eat black eyed pea’s and greens perhaps. Well, on January 1st, 2004 Garth Moulton was in Silicon Valley doing everything but that, he was busy launching JigSaw.com, his first ever startup.

JigSaw.comJigSaw.com was a pioneering platform that allowed users to exchange contacts and business information that would typically be found on a traditional business card. Through tough work and strategic planning Garth and his team were able to build their JigSaw database to over 28 million contacts and a network of over 4 million companies spanning the next 6 years.

In 2009 Moulton began negotiations with Sales Force about the acquisition of Jigsaw. During that period, Garth decided it was time to get out of “the Valley” and relocate his family to a new city. He ultimately decided that location would be the Queen City, Charlotte, NC. Shortly after moving to Charlotte, Garth finalized the deal with Sales Force to purchase JigSaw.com and the deal was inked for an astonishing $142 million dollars in early 2010.

Garth MoultonSince then, Garth has founded OtherScreen and invested and advised in numerous other companies including his most current endeavor, CircleBack at which he is the Chief Customer Officer and Advisor. CircleBack focuses on mobile applications that allow the organization of your smartphone to be a much simpler task. From their flagship application CircleBack - which keeps all your contacts up-to-date on all of your devices in a unified address book, to ScanBizCards - the easiest way to scan your business card contacts to your mobile address book and thus access them from any browser, Garth is once again an integral part in guiding his team down the road to success.
However, the path Garth has forged over the past decade hasn’t always been easygoing and smooth sailing. His great success speaks volumes for his ability to adapt and overcome adversity to climb to the heights that most entrepreneurs aspire and that few obtain. In hopes that we too can help our businesses grow and succeed, the Charlotte Startup Grind community is very excited to hear Garth share his story and learn more about his methodologies and the traits that helped him get to where he is today. We invite you to learn alongside us from 5pm to 9pm on November 18th at Packard Place - 222. S Church St, Charlotte, NC 28202. Come and be inspired!
