No Startup Grind director acts alone. Behind every local director stands a tribe of experienced hosts as well as fresh arrivals, all who can be found and reached through the Startup Grind Basecamp service. Basecamp is an online collaboration tool for individual chapters as well as the Startup Grind community as a whole, and also stores some of the best practices from years of events - many which have made it into our guide and checklist.
Above is the main screen you’ll see on logging in, which the rest of the software being rather self-explanatory: commenting and replying works much like a forum anywhere else.
The Chapter Project
Marked in red, is the topic under which all members and discussions relevant to your particular chapter happen. You will not see the discussions going on in, say, New York City if you are hosting events in Shanghai: these are private forums only for Startup Grind HQ and the local team. After your onboarding, all communication should move from email to the Basecamp project to keep track of the messages and to reduce mail overhead.
Everything You Need to Know
Marked in green, stores many of Startup Grind’s best resources including sponsor docks, general walkthroughs, and email templates to help reach out to speakers. This is the best place to ask your community for help and advice as you get started building your chapter.
General Discussion
Unmarked, is generally where directors ask questions of Startup Grind as an organization, talk tips and strategies, and also where Startup Grind HQ makes major announcements.
Side/Personal/Random/Cool Stuff
Marked in purple, is where the directors of Startup Grind help and celebrate one another for their businesses, personal accomplishments, family milestones, and more. It’s your community for talking about side projects and ideas, and a great place to get feedback, beta testers, and general help.
