I think it was Gary Vanderchuck that said that nothing really has changed in this digital world in terms of social networking, only now we are all in the middle of a dinner party and you need to work the room. Anyone that reaches out to you on social media, make sure you say hello, you wouldn’t ignore them in that room. A conversation is needed to start a dialogue with your customers, charm and a personal touch helps turn that dialogue into relationships.
This has been particularly true for Pozible, a crowdfunding platform with a ‘creative project’ focus. Rick Chen shared openly about constantly holding events, and speaking engagements as a way to encourage people to contribute to his platform. The party is always on us, as he put it.
I think sometimes as we work away behind our computers on our startups, we seem to forget just how important that human element is to our business. ‘Visits’ seem more like numbers, then people that stopped by and looked through our store. People that add us on social networks don’t seem to get treated with the importance that they should.
Rick has had an incredible journey, and his passion for helping people make their dreams a reality is clearly evident. Hope you enjoy the show!
