Startup Grind Baltimore is proud to announce our inaugural event featuring Brian Razzaque, Founder and CEO of Social Toaster. Wasabi Ventures, a silicon valley venture capital firm with an joint accelerator program with Loyola, will serve as the Director of Startup Grind Baltimore. "By bringing Startup Grind to Baltimore, we hope to contribute to the ecosystem by giving people another venue to learn, network, and evolve their start-up energy" says Tom "TK" Kugeler, Managing Partner at Wasabi Ventures.
Baltimore was featured in Fast Company last month for being an "emerging tech scene" Baltimore was not always on the map as a "start-up city" but has made its mark with local success stories such as Under Armour, Advertising.com, Millennial Media, and BillMeLater. The city is prosperous with incubators, co-working spaces, and accelerators including the recent partnership of Wasabi Ventures and Loyola's Sellinger School of Business. Baltimore will now be home to dozens of new start-ups as a result of the partnership working alongside the existing efforts in the area. The city has strong collegiate support and training grounds such as Johns Hopkins University and University of Maryland and is nestled not far from the nation's capital: Washington, D.C.
Start-up Grind Baltimore seeks to connect the dots further in the emerging start-up city. With monthly events, we hope to engage the community with experience, opportunities and learning. We hope to encourage, inspire and ignite the start-up spirit in the city, beginning of September 18th, 2012. "We have made a big commitment to the start-up ecosystem in Baltimore. We believe that is is going to grow into one of the greatest emerging technology hot beds of the next decade," Tom "TK" Kuegler.
