Exclusive: Sequoia and Admob Founder Back Mobile Gaming Startup Kiwi

You heard it here first, Sequoia Capital has put their big green dollars into another new startup called Kiwi. Kiwi is a mobile social game company that was founded by ex-Playdom alumni Omar Siddiqui and Shvetank Jain. Their previous company Trippert Labs was acquired by Playdom during new CEO John Pleasants‘ acquisition binge after he was brought on as CEO.

This is also the internal Playdom team that was behind the breakout hits City of Wonder and Gardens of Time. Both of the founders recently left Disney to start this new venture. The company is based in Silicon Valley but also has an office in Bangalore for which they have been hiring developers. One of the really interesting things we learned about Kiwi is that AdMob founder Omar Hamoui has joined the Board of Directors. While Omar did make some startup investments in 2011, it’s unclear if he also invested in this company. Kiwi raised between $5-$7MM in late 2011. That’s a lot of cash and likely big expectations with one acquired startup under the founders’ belts. Check out their cute company landing page. Excited to see what they unveil in 2012.
