The inaugural event was a wonderful success. Here are some of the nuggets of wisdom that standout in my mind with my conversation with Dr. Pam Marrone:
When getting money from investors, make sure that you and your investors share the same values
Best investors have actual business experience (vs. Stanford or Harvard MBA grads that get a job directly with a venture fund without ever having run a business)
Make sure you get a good lawyer to protect your interests
Funding is a sales process, and the (CEO/Founder) needs to be the best sales person
When you're an entrepreneur, you have to break down barriers. Pam actually helped get a law passed that shorten the time for the EPA to review products
Marrone Bio Innovations was named after Pam's father. Marrone means chestnuts and can be also translated as cojones or guts.
Business is a Marriage between your partners, yourself, and investors so choose wisely
Pam is very passionate about the environment. She finds herself scolding employees for not recycling.
