Launching SG Paris: Bonjour from the Hub of FrenchTech Startups

Paris is the heart of the FrenchTech startup community, which is home to thousands of aspiring founders and successful companies, more than 50 accelerators and incubators, hundreds of coworking spaces, and a focal point for European VC funding. It's a perfect testing environment for locally-focused startup models -- and companies like Uber and AirBnB are taking advantage, using our city as their largest European marketplace to test localizations of new products and services.

World-class business and technical universities full of International students create rich opportunities for new founders from all over the world to meet, dream up new business opportunities, and launch in a robust ecosystem. It's even Meetup.com's largest tech meetup city, with dozens of meetups each week to help startups pitch, find business partners and technical help, network and improve their entrepreneurial skills.

Over the past two years, the French Economic Ministry's FrenchTech label has energized the local startup ecosystem, bringing world-class events and entrepreneurs to Paris as well as promoting French startups all over the globe. 66 FrenchTech startups participated in International CES 2015 in Las Vegas, making it the largest delegation outside of the United States and an equally significant FrenchTech presence was felt at SXSW in Austin this year.

Home to organizations like Numa, Google Ventures, Microsoft Ventures, Orange Labs, Nest VC, and a host of incubators and accelerators created by large banks, public utilities and private organizations, Paris provides a rich mentor landscape to mold startup founders into successful entrepreneurs. Paris has a café lifestyle and there is no shortage of dedicated coworking spaces and friendly cafés where you can plug in and work all day for the cost of a few drinks.

Paris is also home to multiple local and national government initiatives making seed funding very accessible to growing startups. As one of Europe's main financial hubs as well as the home to an incredible number of French multi-nationals, a thriving VC community of experienced entrepreneurs is eager and accessible.
