Matt Barrie of Freelancer.com joins the Startup Grind Sydney Alumni


Startup Grind Sydney's second instalment is set to educate, connect, and inspire all entrepreneurs from the novice to the very experienced. Startup Grind Sydney welcomes Matt Barrie, CEO of Freelancer.com to the list of influencers who have already shared their story.

At just 37 years, Matt Barrie is creating a global empire if not already. Australia's favourite technology entrepreneur Matt Barrie, hardly needs an introduction. First founding a telecommunications hardware company, then going on to found Sensory Networks Inc., a vendor of high performance network processors. In 2009, Barrie founded Freelancer.com, an outsourcing marketplace for small businesses and individuals, connecting over 4.3 million professionals from around the world. Over 250 million projects have been outsourced through Freelancer.com.


Sydney based Barrie was named Entrepreneur of the Year in 2011 by BRW Magazine, named in the top 100 most influential engineers by Engineers Australia, 2012 Man of Influence by Men's Style Magazine as well as a host of many other accolades. Barrie holds dual first class honours in Electrical Engineering and Science, a Masters in Applied Finance and a Masters in Electrical Engineering from Stanford. Barrie also lectures at the University of Sydney and is the co-author of over 20 U.S patent applications.
