Startup Grind BCN hosts Jordi Priu - Last #SGBCN of 2014!

December is already here, and so is the end of 2014. While on the one side, the Barcelona Startup scene has had its ups & downs this year, the overall outcome has been very positive and most Barcelona-based startups will bring 2014 to a close with a huge smile on their faces (and on their investors').

This Thursday we want to invite a very special speaker. We have been approaching the investor's work from the startups point of view for almost as we've been running Startup Grind in la Ciutat Comtal, so it felt just to bring an investor to share his opinion on the subject. Our past speakers, attendees and other special guests we've had didn't dedicate many compliments to Spanish investors. On the contrary: we've seen too much bashing and harsh criticism.

We are hosting Jordi Priu on Thursday, founder and CEO at 101Startups, an investment group. Jordi, and therefore 101Startups, really invests in early stage startups with high risk value, which is probably where he stands out in the much-criticized Spanish investment community. As a matter of fact, he invested in Teambox (now Redbooth) when it was a really early stage product. Visionary? Lucky winner? We'll ask him on Thursday.

We're going to cover a whole set of different topics with Jordi: his background as a non-investor, how did he turn into an investor, his venture at his family business MMM, the creation of 101Startups, the opportunities in the growing BCN ecosystem, or what does he think of our last guests' opinions on Spanish investors. We will also ask him the questions submitted through our Twitter hashtag #SGBCN

The event
We're hosting our last 2014 event in the MediaTIC Growth Centre again, at 6PM (sharp!). We will do a summary of the whole year to highlight the best moments at Startup Grind BCN, we'll do some Open Mic where you will be able to ask for collaboration for your startup, and we've got a special surprise: ESADE professor on Digital Marketing Franc Carreras will do a first hour talk about the three validation triangles in early stage startups.

See you on Thursday! Keep Grinding!
