Startup Grind Begins In Columbus

Print

Columbus is off to a great start with December, January, and February events already in place. Maybe it has something to do with the Startup Grind colors being Scarlet and Gray, like a certain University? (The Ohio State University, in case you didn't know.)

In December we'll be chatting with Tom Walker, CEO of TechColumbus. TechColumbus is the startup hub in Columbus. Tom has refocused and re-energized TechColumbus since he took the helm. We'll be holding the Columbus Startup Grind events at TechColumbus, so Tom is the ideal person to kickoff with. We'll be discussing all things related to the startup ecosystem in Columbus.

In January you will learn how the TalentRooster team has been incubating the company inside of well-established, 70 year old business. The TalentRooster team; CEO - David DeCapua, CTO - Rick Kierner, and CFO, Jeff Miller will be on hand to discuss why they decided to start the company and how they have gone about incubating it inside of Dawson, a staffing firm. Starting and growing a company inside another company has it's own issues and challenges that might not be readily apparent. We'll dig in with the TalentRooster team.

In February Chris Olsen from Drive Capital will be discussing the background of Drive Capital and how he sees the firm engaging in the Columbus startup and investment scene. Chris and his Partner, Mark Kvamme, have raised a significant amount of money and they will be having a significant impact on capitalization in Columbus and the midwest for startups. Chris will speak about the investments they have already made and what they will be looking for moving forward.

Columbus has a legacy of startups and innovation across a variety of industries. Startup Grind's presence in Columbus will be a catalyst for the startup community and to help add to the legacy of great companies started in Buckeye country.
