Startup Grind success spreads to Glasgow

glasgow

Following an immensely successful Commonwealth Games in the city, Glasgow now welcomes the newest Chapter of Startup Grind to continue inspiring Scottish business.

The sporting achievement of athletes competing and medalling at the Games is testament to the years of determination, training and endless sacrifice to be the best.  Businesses, in a similar vein, are not in a position to assume continued success as a result of one good month, quarter or even year.  As a result of relentless resilience, tenacity and a vision to build something great – Glasgow has produced some of the most interesting and inspiring companies in Scotland.

Each of these companies has their own unique story to tell; journeys to success are seldom smooth.  It is these stories that can help educate, inspire and connect entrepreneurs setting off on their own path, and as a result Startup Grind Glasgow is launching on the 17th September.  A monthly event, Startup Grind features guest interviews from founders, innovators, educators and investors.  Powered by the Google for Entrepreneurs programme, Startup Grind has over 100 Chapters worldwide, including Chapters in Edinburgh, London and Cambridge. The Glasgow Chapter will mark the fourth in the UK and certainly not the last as the movement spreads across cities.john mcglynn

Spearheading the Startup Grind movement in Glasgow is adopted Scot, Phin Mpofu, Founder of HOMESPLACE, a disruptive PropertyTech start-up, Lisa Thomson (Saltire Fellow 2014/15) founder and MD of Purpose (HR & Coaching) and Hannah Dockery Marketing Business Partner at MBN Solutions.

The inaugural Startup Grind Glasgow event will be held at Santander HQ, 301 St. Vincent Street Glasgow, G2 5HN on the 17th September 2014, starting at 6pm with drinks, nibbles and getting to know each other, before the guest interview. The inaugural guest will be John McGlynn, Founder and CEO of Airlink Group, Founding Director of the Entrepreneurial Exchange in London and Investor.  He will be sharing his story of his company’s rise to largest Scottish car parking owner and one of the largest private property groups in Scotland.
