Startup culture is not new to Oxford, back in 1893 William Morris aged 16 started his first enterprise going on in 1912 to disrupt motor manufacture in the UK by assembling from bought in components rather than building in-house like the incumbents . Morris understood that it was all about scalability, rejecting the rationale that relying on outside component manufactures was risky, if the manufacturer failed he simply bought the company. Today in Oxford a visit to the Science Park, Harwell Campus or Begbroke provides inspiration to those those of us taking the path of Founder, perhaps your journey is about to to start… Join our Meetup group for news on the inaugural session.
