About this event

Most founders have never pitched to a funder.

They have read the websites, worked out which grants exist, maybe sketched a deck. But almost nobody has sat across from the person who decides, heard what they actually think, and found out where the bar really is.

That is what this evening is for.

Four funders, four routes

Each takes fifteen minutes to explain what they genuinely back and what makes them say no. Between them they cover the full range: university spinouts, grants and competitions, equity at pre-seed, and the knowledge transfer routes most founders have never heard of.

Not a pitch for their programme. What they look for, what they turn down, and why.

Then your questions

An open panel with all of them on stage. Ask the things you have been sitting on, including the ones you assume are too basic. Most of the room is wondering the same.

Then the pitches

Six founders pitch to the panel and get honest feedback on the spot, in front of everyone. Not scores, not a scorecard, but the real reaction: what landed, what did not, and what they would want to see before taking it further.

Watching someone else get that feedback is often more useful than getting it yourself.

One founder will receive a ticket to the Startup Grind Global Conference in Redwood City, California, where founders, investors and technology leaders from around the world come together. Conference pass only; travel and accommodation are not included.

Who this is for

Founders at any stage, from an idea you have not told anyone about to a company with customers. Researchers with something worth commercialising. Students considering starting something. And anyone who wants to understand how funding in Scotland actually works.

You do not need to be pitching to come. Most people will not be.
