About this event

Farida is an Information and Communication Technology Manager with over 10 years experience working across the private, public and international development sectors.
She is currently the Group Head of Growth & Brand at Sudo Africa, a VC-backed fintech company that provides card issuing infrastructure for businesses and individuals across Africa. In this role she is overseeing the rapid growth and expansion of the company's products in sub Saharan Africa.
Prior to Sudo, Farida also served as a Digital Development Consultant within the World Bank Group’s Digital Development Global Practice, on the 430 million USD Nigeria Identification for Development (ID4D) project (co-funded by the World Bank and EU), where she led the development of privacy/security strategy and system architecture for scaling the Nigerian biometric system to accurately record 200 million Nigerians.
Farida also founded OTRAC, where she led a team of engineers, data scientists, and UX researchers to design and develop both consumer focused applications and custom enterprise digital innovations in the public sector.
Farida also trains and mentors young girls on software development and career paths in IT. She is passionate about the conscious use of technology as a tool to improve socio-economic development indices in developing countries like Nigeria, particularly in governance, which will in turn translate into improved service delivery and transparency in delivering those services.
She has won various awards in the course of her career, including the 2022 Royal African Award by Ooni of Ife, 2020 Most Powerful People in Tech and YTech 100 by YNaija, the Innoventor Award by Verdant Zeal Group, and Nigeria’s 100 Most Inspiring Women of 2019 by Leading Ladies Africa. In 2016 she was the only Nigerian amongst five Africans that was awarded by the French President, François Hollande, in recognition of her pioneering entrepreneurial strides in Health Technology.
