Our Chapter Director Mo Salah is hosting 5 Jordanian thought-leaders for a #SGVirtual panel discussion on the opportunities and the challenges of opening the Economy. This panel is hosted in partnership with Crown Prince Foundation Zain Jordan and Jordan Ahli Bank.

Our Speakers are:

Mr. Marwan Juma, Marwan is one of Jordan’s leading IT figures. He is the Founder Partner of Kinz for information technology, the country’s leading corporate data provider, Juma also served as the country’s Minister of Information of Communications and Information Technology from Dec 2009 till Feb 2011. Today Juma chairs Oasis500, the region’s leading IT fund and accelerator. In addition, he serves on several boards including King Abdullah II Center for Excellence, Princess Sumaya University for Technology, Al Mamlaka Public Television Station, Capital Invest as well as the Jordan Football Association. Till recently, Juma served on the board of DAI, one of the world’s top global development firms, (from 2011 till 2018). He also served on the “National Agenda’s “Royal Steering Committee, entrusted with developing Jordan’s ten-year national strategy, and was re-elected in mid-2009 as Chairman of INTAJ, Jordan’s IT industry association, but resigned following his ministerial appointment in late 2009. He is one of the founders of the REACH Initiative, a five-year action plan that advanced Jordan’s nascent information technology sector and strengthened its ability to compete in local, regional, and global markets. Juma is a Holder of a Master’s in Management from North Carolina State University, and also holds two Bachelor’s degrees in Business Management and Economics from the same school.

Dr. Yusuf Mansur, Yusuf is the CEO of EnConsult in Jordan, is specialized in economic consulting in the areas of economic policy, investment, trade, antitrust, capacity building, competitiveness, and strategy. Previous positions included: Chairman of the Board of Amman Bourse, Minister of State for Economic Affairs, Sr. Economic Adviser to the Prime Minister, Vice Chairman of the Aqaba Special Economic Zone Authority, CEO for the Jordan Agency for Economic and Investment Development, Acting CEO of the Jordan Investment Board, and Director General of the Jordan Telecom Regulatory Commission. Dr. Mansur worked as an international capacity building and policy adviser. He established three departments and managed them simultaneously at the Ministry of Planning and International Cooperation (National Competitiveness Unit, Technical Support Unit, and the Aid Coordination Unit). He also engaged with the UNDP where he was Resident Representative of the UNDP in Kuwait. He had a TV show, Economic Dialogue, which ran on JTV in 2010; and was a columnist in Arabic and English newspapers on the economy in Jordan and the region, 1996-2014. He has four books that were published in the UK and Jordan and has over 70 technical articles in refereed journals. Dr. Mansur received his Masters and Ph.D. in economics from the University of Oklahoma.

Dr. Rami Farraj, Farraj is the chairman of the board of directors of the Royal Health Awareness Society and a consultant in internal medicine working at King Hussein Medical Center. He is also the chairman of EHS, a non-profit company that implements “Hakeem“ national electronic health records system and its associated health data analytics. He graduated from Imperial College, London, and got his American Board of Internal medicine after doing his medicine residency program at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. Dr. Farraj sends a daily health tip on social media to dispel many of the health myths that inflict our society, especially about the novel coronavirus.

Dr. Abed Alrazzaq Arabiyat, Arabiyat is the current Managing Director of the Jordan Tourism Board (Visit Jordan); the leader in positioning and promoting Jordan as the destination of choice in international markets. Prior to his position at the Jordan Tourism Board, Dr. Arabiyat filled the position of Finance Department Director at the Telecommunications Regulatory Commission as well as previously holding that position and the position of Director of Administrative Affairs at the Commission simultaneously. Preceding that, Dr. Arabiyat worked in several ministerial positions including; Serving in the Financial Department at the Ministry of Planning before moving on to becoming the Head of Auditing as well as Financial Manager at the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities before moving on to becoming the Financial & Administrative Manager for the Tourism Development Project (JICA). Dr. Arabiyat holds a Ph.D. in Finance from the Amman Arab University for Graduate Studies, a Masters degree in Banking and Financial Science from the Arab Academy for Banking and Financial Science, and a BA in Public Administration and Political Science from the University of Jordan.

Mr. Michael F. Orfaly, Michael is the Country Senior Partner for PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) in Jordan. He leads the Assurance Practice for Jordan, Iraq, and Palestine, and the Assurance Transformation in the Middle East. Michael has been working in the assurance and business advisory services for more than 25 years and has extensive management, financial audit, and risk assurance experience including corporate and family governance, risk management, internal audit, and technology risk services. He has extensive experience serving large multinational clients. His portfolio includes a variety of industries such as banks, government, non-profit and international donor organizations, mining, and manufacturing. Michael is a regular participant in conferences and forums on accounting and economics. He leads PwC’s participation in key local associations, such as the Jordanian Business Association for Energy, Water, and Environment (EDAMA) Jordan Strategy Forum (JSF), the American Chamber of Commerce, and the ICT Association of Jordan –Intaj.
