Startup Grind Asmara is excited to host Dr Mulugheta T. Solomon, a Data Analytics Consultant, Omdena Product Lead/Owner, and AgriTech Mentor, for a fireside chat event on 31st August, 2023. Dr. Solomon will share his insights and experiences on applying artificial intelligence and data science to real-world problems, especially in the agricultural and food systems domain. He will also talk about his involvement in various international and local initiatives, such as Omdena, IntelliDigest, Genesis International Limited, and Eritrea Scholars Society. This is a great opportunity to learn from a passionate and accomplished professional who has worked in multiple countries and sectors. Dr. Solomon has a PhD in Management of Innovation in the Agricultural and Food Systems (Postharvest Technology) with two master’s degrees (MSc) in Data Science and Mediterranean Organic Agriculture and a BSc in Plant Sciences/Horticulture. He currently works as a Data Analytics Consultant for The Information Lab Italy in Milan, Italy. He has also worked as a research and teaching graduate assistant, a data/information management assistant, a counsellor/Interpreter, and a cultural mediator in Eritrea, Italy, Spain, and Romania. Dr. Solomon has been an active Omdena collaborator since 2020 as Product Lead/Owner, Lead Machine Learning Engineer in several Omdena Core Challenges, and course Instructor at OmdenaSchool for “Data Science for Sustainable Agricultural and Food Systems” since 2021. He is also a founder and one of the chapter leads of the Omdena-Milan Local Chapter. Omdena is a global platform that builds AI solutions through collaboration and learning by doing. Moreover, Dr Solomon has been a Research Expert Panel at IntelliDigest since 2021 and an AgriTech Mentor at Genesis International Limited. IntelliDigest is a biotechnology company that provides innovative solutions for food waste management. Genesis International Limited is an AgriTech company that leverages AI to improve crop yield and quality. Furthermore, he is a volunteer and among the lead management committees of Eritrea Scholars Society since 2022 where he educates, supports postgraduate students and young researchers and beyond with a great belief in collaboration and working together to achieve better. Eritrea Scholars Society is a non-profit organization that aims to promote academic excellence and research culture among Eritrean scholars.
