About this event

Jenene’s first foray into digital came at 16 years old when she scored a job at digital stalwarts, Info Tools. From there she spent time in logistics at Nike and in project management at WebMasters, where she first learnt how to create an award-winning website. It was while in this role that she launched her first digital business nzgirl.co.nz from her spare bedroom on a second-hand computer. At 22 she was noticed and backed by a major New Zealand investor (the late Lloyd Morrison), which led to starting her second business at 24 – www.18tracker.com (which subsequently sold to Research International). At 27 Movac (the original investors in Trade Me) backed Crossan’s next venture, the creation of a female-focused masthead ad network, which launched into Australia. As the GFC took hold, Jenene deftly repositioned the business, organized a management buy-out and then merged it with a technology company, creating Actual Dialogue – the first ad-driven email platform. Jenene is now 35 years old managing her 5th digital business, quiet-time hair and beauty appointment website www.flossie.com. Aiming to become the worldwide online booking channel for women to conveniently make all their appointments in one easy step – think of it like the wotif.com of the hair & beauty industry. Launched in February 2012, the site is being backed my major digital players & investors - including the co-founders of Hell Pizza, the team behind Sonar6 and Rob Campbell. In addition, Jenene’s first business nzgirl.co.nz (of which she is still a director and shareholder of) has gone on to become New Zealand’s leading social magazine. The site’s parent company (also a Jenene led project) bloggersclub.com operates a content creation, curation and amplification platform representing 400 bloggers. Described by those who work with her as passionate, hard working, committed and tenacious. Jenene’s drive, determination & passion have seen her as a finalist for both New Zealand Marketer of the Year and the international Veuve Clicquot Award. Her business skills have attracted high profile investment, major international advertising awards and media coverage from all around the world. Jenene is a coveted speaker within the corporate world, rolling out her 5 Simple Steps to Digital Domination nationwide to educate & inspire executives to embrace the new world of technology & entrepreneurship.
