About this event

John Hardy is renown for having unconventional ideas and making them happen. After graduating from the Ontario College of Art & Design, John set off to travel the world and settled in Bali. In 1975, he started a small jewelry business that grew into an international company. In 2007, John stopped working in the company to dedicate his time to build a more sustainable world through education and design. His first major project, the Green School in Bali, Indonesia delivers pioneering education for the future. The school commits to provide internationally recognized academic education that prepares the students with the ability to be competitive and successful in the wider world by integrating traditional subjects, creative arts and green studies wrapped in rich layers of experiential, environmental, and entrepreneurial learning. Today, the school has a student body of approximately 275 from over 40 countries and has won USGBC Greenest School on Earth award in 2012. In addition to the Green School, in 2009, John teamed up with his daughter Elora to create award winning Green Village and Ibuku, pioneers in new design, construction techniques and engineering standards.
