Immediately after that she moved to Bangalore where she worked as a retail consultant, first with Wipro and then TCS. She would travel to the top retailers around the world building their IT systems. That's when she and Gaurav (who was in Wipro and Planetasia and who she married in 2002) thought of starting their own business in retail. "I realised that retail was a sunrise industry and that people's busy lives would create a home meal replacement market in India," Pallavi says. Thus Mast Kalandar was born in 2005. She, together with her husband Gaurav Jain, has now established 34 branches in Bangalore, 7 branches in Chennai, 2 in Hyderabad and 5 in Pune.
