Odisha’s first “Forbes International Under 30” honourees, Twins Nikita & Nishita Baliarsingh are the founders of an eco-friendly battery tech company – Nexus Power. The duo strives to build a sustainable and greener planet. Their Startup is building Lithium free, biodegradable electric vehicle batteries from crop residue. Inspired by the concepts of Industrial ecology and Biomimicry, Nexus is not only fastening the process of EV adaptation through the fast charging, cheap, and energy-efficient batteries, but facilitating massive growth in the agricultural industry as well.

Nexus has been a recipient of multiple awards since its inception in 2019. The girls have featured in Forbes 30 Under 30, Entrepreneur magazine’s “Shepreneur – Women to Watch”, Vogue India’s “Women at the workplace” special edition, MG motors & The better India’s “Change Makers – Season 3” and PMI’s “Global Future 50” to name a few. The pair has also been felicitated by the Governor of Odisha for their innovative work and contribution to the Startup ecosystem in the state.

On the education front, Nishita and Nikita completed their Bachelor’s degrees in Business Management from the prestigious Xavier Institute of Management (XIM), Bhubaneswar. Following this, Nikita went on to pursue her Master’s in Media and Mass Communication from XIM, Bhubaneswar and Nishita opted to pursue Chartered Accountancy (CA). The twin girls have also completed Master’s certification programs in Nanotechnology, Battery Management Systems, Electric Vehicle Engineering, and Innovation and Strategy Management from IIT Roorkee, IIT Madras, and IIM Bangalore.

They inspire people from multiple works of life through their journey and talk sessions at TEDx events, different seminars, and webinars across the World. Stories about their journey have been published in numerous leading Global media houses in both print and digital mediums.

Besides their entrepreneurial interests, Nishita is a photographer and an artist while Nikita is a creative writer and a filmmaker. Something that resides in both of them is being musicians, sports enthusiasts, adventure freaks, and brave horse riders. Both the girls are very active when it comes to business, leadership, and travel.
