Ing. Peter Zalesak (50) graduated from the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science (Slovak Technical University) in Bratislava. He has always been an electronics enthusiast. He even used to shoot videos and also he was an amateur DJ. After school and alongside his job as a programmer, he started to do business with the electronics in a form of ordering service – he imported hi-fi systems. In 1991, with partner Jan Tomas and investors from Germany, founded the company Nay. The company operated as a wholesaler, as an importer and distributor of the largest brands of consumer electronics, in the form of an franchise. Over time they built up a network of own retail shops. In 1998 Nay transformed to the concept of modern large-area stores – electro houses. In 2005, the company was joined by a strategic foreign partner - Enterprise Investors by buying 48 percent of its shares. They left and sold it back to Peter and Jan in 2013. A year later (2014) NAY bought Electro World, which was on Slovak and Czech market. Now NAY is operating on both markets, but on the Slovak they represent the leader. Peter was also announced by EY in 2008 as the entrepreneur of the year.
