Ty is the Managing Director of Aethon Technologies, a sensors and analytics firm with offices in Rochester, Toronto, London, and San Diego. Ty is a proven business executive, and thought leader on the topic of technology commercialization. He has a successful track record in product development, business design, technology marketing and venture capital and now consults, writes, and lectures on these subjects to corporate and academic organizations throughout North America and Europe.
Prior to his current role at Aethon Technologies, Ty was the President and CEO of the geospatial technology firm PV Labs, Chief Operating Officer at the venture capital firm Trivaris Ltd, a Vice President at NYSE-listed L3 Communications, and an officer in the Royal Canadian Air Force. In 2010, the Ontario Society of Professional Engineers named him the Engineer of the Year, and while at PV Labs, he led the organization to be recognized as one of Profit Magazine’s fastest growing companies in Canada, a winner of a Chamber of Commerce award for technology innovation, and a winner of an Academy Award for science and technology.
Ty is the past-Chair of the Board of Governors for Mohawk College, and was a founding adjunct member of the Ontario College of Art and Design’s Master in Strategic Foresight and Innovation program. He has a Bachelor of Computer Engineering from the Royal Military College of Canada, and a Masters in Business Administration from the University of Toronto’s Rotman School of Management.
