About this event

Increasingly, every company is a technology company, no matter what product or service it provides. Successful business ecosystems are moving past antiquated paradigms which create silos between "tech" and "traditional" industries. On October 24th we are honoured to host entrepreneurs which are creating innovative solutions to traditional industries that Albertans and Calgarians have long excelled in. Helping us build off our existing competitive advantages to compete globally.

Feature Speaker and AgTech Entrepreneur: Remi Schmaltz

Remi Schmaltz  comes from a family which has been involved in the Agricultural Industry for over 100 years. Today, Remi is the CEO and President of Decisive Farming, a multi-million dollar AgTech company which provide growers with precision agriculture, crop marketing and data management services.

Decisive Farming’s patented flagship product, Optimize RX, uses soil analysis and GIS mapping to help farmers efficiently seed and fertilize their crops, maximizing yield and return on investment.

The company’s cloud-based software app, My Farm Manager, connects key service providers, sensors and data, helping users manage and optimize their entire farming operation.

With on-farm data provided in near real-time, growers can capitalize on opportunities to farm more efficiently, while providing upstream traceability reporting and improving environmental, social and economic sustainability.

Feature Startup Making Pipelines Safer: Ingu Solutions (John van Pol)

John van Pol is the Co-Founder & CEO at Ingu Solutions. John moved to Calgary from the Netherlands to build off his work in advanced sensing technologies (which he acquired while completing his PhD in Nuclear Physics) with Ingu Solutions. Their technology is focused on making pipelines safer, is an in-line screening tool for small diameter and unpiggable pipelines. Piper identify risks that threaten pipeline performance and safety with zero-downtime. In layman terms, they have created a golf ball sized sensor into a pipeline to check for any risks and they do it for a fraction of the price of traditional methods - making it more affordable for companies to better protect their pipelines' integrity.

Feature Organization: PwC (Joon Chan)
