About this event

On October 28th, join us for either an intimate dinner or a virtual event with breakout rooms between speakers! Featuring two of Calgary's most striking entrepreneurs: Kevin Kerr and Saawan Logan! Both of their companies have experienced extraordinary growth in 2020 by pursuing innovative solutions with a global focus.

Feature Speaker: Kevin Kerr

We are honoured to feature Kevin Kerr. He has expertise in company leadership honed over the past 20 years, from the ground-level up, with proven skills and success in new-venture start-ups, developing and commercializing innovative products in both the oil and gas and mining sectors. Additional experience with expansion of manufacturing, sales and service operations into the United States, Mexico and Australia.

With over 25 years of manufacturing, service and sales experience both domestically and internationally Kevin’s fingerprints can be found all over the globe throughout a vast array of industries. The founder of The Highwood Group, he is focused on developing top tier, innovative products and services, providing sorely needed equipment solutions.

Prior to Highwood, Kevin founded 3 separate start-up companies, growing each to the point of sale to private equity firms. In his last role with Rangeland Industrial Service, Kevin started with a workforce of 2 in Southern Alberta and grew it to over 120 staff across 3 Canadian divisions including a subsidiary in the U.S.A. before its acquisition.

As the founder and former CEO and President of Rangeland Drilling Automation, he has successfully launched and commercialized several new innovative machines for the oil and gas industry. While at Rangeland he oversaw the growth from an initial complement of two staff to more than 120 people across three Canadian and one US division (industrial manufacturing, rentals and oilfield equipment design and assembly), generating $20 million+ in annual revenues in less than six years of operation, and positioning the manufacturing and rental divisions for acquisition. He has a strong network of industry and manufacturing contacts in Canada, the United States, Mexico and Australia.

Feature Startup: Saawan Logan

Saawan Logan, an investor, entrepreneur, and co-founder will be speaking about her latest venture, North Water Canada. Saawan is a proud immigrant to Canada and shares a strong entrepreneurial spirit with a passion for sustainability. She adventured internationally over the years, and while her love for the globe runs deep, her love for Canada and its limitless possibilities runs deeper. Throughout her travels, Saawan gained an elevated appreciation for the clean and pristine spring water of the Canadian Rocky Mountains. She founded a company to share this distinctly refreshing water in a plastic-alternative bottle, with the rest of the world.

Ticket Purchases: In-person

Tickets for the in-person event may only be purchased by table for this event. Dinner and drinks will be served during the event from the phenomenal staff at Junction. If a table is purchased on behalf of an organization, the logo and company name will be featured on our website. Please note, a three course dinner is included for each person. ADDITIONAL ANSWERS & KEY MESSAGES

CARE ABOUT THE HEALTH AND SAFETY OF YOUR ATTENDEES: The health and safety of our attendees is our number 1 priority. We strictly adhere to all guidelines and expect our attendees, volunteers, speakers and entertainers to do the same.

WHAT ARE SOME OF THE SPECIFIC THINGS YOU HAVE DONE? Refer to our above Rules & Regulations for a full list of the guidelines we have put in place to keep our attendees safe.

WHY ARE YOU HOLDING A LIVE EVENT? Our dream is to support entrepreneurs in our local community. One of the best ways for owners to grow their business is to meet and hear from like-minded individuals and gain insight.

WHY NOT DO IT VIRTUALLY? Studies show that business owners retain and engage more highly at live events and we believe that, safely and respectfully, we can start to get business owners personally reconnecting with their wider community. For those that would rather be at home, we are broadcasting the event.

WHAT ABOUT ONLINE NETWORKING EVENTS OR LINKEDIN? Virtual engagement is extremely effective in a one-on-one setting, but in a group, it is very difficult to make meaningful connections. Of course, we encourage all our attendees to leverage online platforms and tune into our event online should they rather stay at home.

WHAT HAPPENS IF SOMEONE GETS SICK? We have a rapid-response plan in place if someone falls ill at our event and will cooperate on any contact tracing for all attendees, volunteers, speakers and entertainers.
