It is not often we can say that a South African had such influence on massive international organisations, but with Willem van Biljon we can ;)
Willem co-founded Mosaic Software that was on of the top three payment processing platforms in the world - and sold to S1 Corp in 2004.
At Amazon, Willem (with Chris Pinkham & Christopher Brown) led the team that developed EC2 - which is now Amazons AWS (Amazon Web Services).
In 2006 Willem co-founded Nimbula which was funded by Sequoia Capital and Accel Partners which was then acquired by Oracle.
Willem is now the co-CEO and CTO of Takealot.com - SA's largest online retailer.
*After hosting 50 events, Guillaume will be handing over the baton in Cape Town to the very capable and experienced Sandras Phiri from September. G isn't going anywhere, but he will be standing down from hosting the Cape Town chapter of Startup Grind, so that he can focus on his full-time role (working for Startup Grind HQ overseeing the 300 chapters around the world). He will also continue running Startup Grind Pretoria monthly.
